This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have.
What we collect
When you request a quote, contact us, or sell a vehicle to us, we may collect:
- Contact details: your name, phone number, email address and suburb.
- Vehicle details: make, model, year, registration number, VIN, condition, photographs and any other information you provide about the vehicle.
- Transaction details: where a sale proceeds, proof-of-identity and proof-of-ownership documents (as required for legal transfer of a vehicle in NSW), and payment details (e.g. bank account details for payment to you).
- Website data: basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type and pages visited, collected through standard website analytics and cookies.
We only collect information that is reasonably necessary to provide our service.
How we collect it
Directly from you: through our online quote form, phone calls, text messages, emails, and in person at vehicle pickup. We do not purchase contact lists or collect your information from third-party data brokers.
Why we collect and use it
We use your personal information to:
- Assess your vehicle and provide a quote;
- Communicate with you about your enquiry, quote, pickup and payment;
- Arrange vehicle collection;
- Complete the legal transfer and disposal of the vehicle, including submitting a Notice of Disposal to Transport for NSW;
- Meet our legal and record-keeping obligations; and
- Improve our website and services.
We do not spam and we do not sell your data
We will not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone. We will not add you to marketing lists, send you newsletters, or contact you about anything unrelated to your enquiry, unless you explicitly ask us to. If you request a quote and don't proceed, that's the end of it.
Who we disclose information to
We only disclose personal information where necessary to provide our service or where required by law, including:
- Transport for NSW and other government bodies, as required for vehicle disposal, transfer and record-keeping;
- Service providers who help us operate (e.g. website hosting, payment processing), bound by confidentiality obligations; and
- Regulators, law enforcement or courts, where legally required.
We do not disclose your information overseas. If this ever changes, we will update this policy first.
How we protect your information
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access or disclosure, including secure systems, restricted access and staff confidentiality obligations. Vehicle photos and form submissions are stored securely and retained only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law.
Access and correction
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by contacting us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time and at no charge.
Complaints
If you believe we have breached your privacy, contact us first and we will investigate and respond promptly. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.
